Amid Snowfall, KPDCL Issues Important Power Update for Kashmir Consumers

Srinagar, Jan 27: Even as fresh snowfall continued across several parts of the Kashmir Valley, the Power Development Department has assured that electricity supply remains largely stable, with no major disruptions reported so far.

Officials from the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) said the transmission and distribution network is functioning normally despite the prevailing weather conditions. They added that advance preparations and preventive measures have helped maintain uninterrupted services across most areas.

According to officials, dedicated field teams have been deployed in all districts to closely monitor the situation and immediately address any local faults or breakdowns. Snowfall in Srinagar, south Kashmir and upper reaches has so far not caused any significant damage to the power infrastructure.

Authorities said special priority is being given to hospitals, water supply schemes and other essential services to ensure continuous electricity during the ongoing weather spell. Maintenance crews, backup equipment and emergency repair systems have also been kept on standby.

Control rooms at district and divisional levels remain operational round the clock to receive complaints and coordinate quick response. Consumers have been advised to report any faults through official helpline numbers for immediate assistance.

Meanwhile, light to moderate snowfall persisted in many parts of the Valley, with officials stating that the overall situation is under constant watch.
